JB started playing drums at an early age while growing up in LA. As a kid he learned from jazz great Brandford Marsalis which opened the door to exploring all types of music and eventually led to playing hardcore punk, funk, and rock. But after sampling a little bit of everything, it became clear JB was made to make hip-hop.
About six years ago, JB set down his drumsticks and picked up an MPC. His background with percussion and knowledge of music made him a prodigy at production. It didn't take long before the quality of the instrumentals he crafted rivaled that of the legends who motivated him - from Freestyle Fellowship to Gang Starr, A Tribe Called Quest to M.O.P., Mobb Deep and many others.
As the musical backbone of the group, JB creates beats that give move.meant direction. While most groups seek various producers to get a specific sound from each, JB covers all the bases with rhythms and melodic textures that run the gamut. And as if it's not enough to handle all of the production duties, he also adds an innovative element to the group's live show by playing all of his beats live on an electronic drum kit linked to his sampler.
In 2004, Just banged out title tracks for two shows on Los Angeles' Power 106. He also produced music for Boost Moblie's national ad campaign featuring Kanye West, Ludacris, and The Game. In addition to the new Move.meant album, he is currently working on projects with Trek-Life, Crush One, and Bishop Lamont, among others.
