Although Spider grew up listening to all types of stuff, the Los Angeles native was always drawn to rhythm based music, where drums and percussion were brought to the forefront. After dabbling in jungle and drum & bass, Spider's longtime passion for Hip Hop got the best of him.
While studying at Sonoma State University, Spider got his first set of turntables in 1996 and immediately started The Bassment, his long running broadcast and online radio show. He learned quickly, picking up tricks and techniques by absorbing every piece of hip-hop he could get his hands on.
As the DJ of the crew, Spider's cuts and creativity keeps Move.meant's music fresh and unpredictable. A bona fide crate digger, his unique sense of sound provides Move.meant's music with a distinct style. In addition, he's a profound producer in his own right and also plays Recording Engineer for the group and other affiliated crews at The Bass.meant Studio.
Spider recently teamed up with 2x4 partner Steve1der (LAment) to become the Los Angeles Regional Winners of Scion's "Free Up Your Mix" Mixtape Contest. In addition to The Bassment, he has two new weekly mixshows on AudioFeast.com and spins at local clubs regularly. Spider also dropped his first mix CD "Pay Dues & Break Even", an ill collection of freestyles and remixes, complete with sharp cuts and crazy blends. His work has earned him opening slots and collabs with Pete Rock, DJ AM, and John Legend.
